Hi .
Ive just bought a semi flush fitting crome ceiling light with 12 straight arms from john lewis inside there is a transformer.to connect it it has 1 brown and 1 blue connecter nothing else.....however my ceiling rose fitting has
1 thick green and yellow wire
1 red connected on its own.
2 red connected together
2 blacks connected together
you know what my question is going to be....Where do all the wires connect when i only have 1 blue and 1 brown in the lamp itself.Many thanks for any advice

hi, yup guessed where we were heading straight away!
3 reds = 3 blacks so either miscount or typo?
lonely red to brown of fitting:
2 other reds stay together in spare connector block, no connection to light:
3 blacks to blue of fitting, prob. won't fit so connector block plus short link:
if fitting has no earth term it must have the 'double insulated' class 11 symbol [[]] if so earths together in another connector block.(they are 3 single wires one from each cable probably sharing one sleeve).
If anything different pls reply before proceding, usual comments re. switching off circuit not just switch as live still at fitting!!!
