Wiring Earth when Replacing with Metal Faced Light Switches

by Tombro » Tue Sep 15, 2015 4:47 pm

Hello, first post!

I. Looking for some advice. I am redecorating and want to replace my plastic light switches with more modern looking metal faced ones.

On the new switch there is a screw for an earth cable however this was obviously not needed on the plastic faced switch. Behind the switch there are two earth wires which are screwed into the back box. How do I safely wire these metal faced switches?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Normal is to move them both to face plate. Some fit link between the two points others seem to think the mounting screws do that. Your signing the minor works so you have to decide.
