I am replacing an old ceiling light fitting (which is controlled with a dimmer switch)and when I removed it from ceiling i noticed it is wired in with 2 seperate black wires into the bulb holder. there is a red ( I presume live wire) but this was not connected to the fitting and was capped off with a multi block. my new light fitting has the standard Brown, blue and earth wires to connect but unsure how these would connect to the 2 black wires used previously. any tips?

The black wire with two other backs connected to it should go to blue and the black on it's own should have red tape on it and go to brown. If lamp is bayonet getting wrong way around will not matter. Even with screw fittings it will still work but there is a slim chance of a shock when changing bulbs as the bulb thread could become live.
