wrong C/heating connection?

by capnbirdseye » Sat Nov 24, 2007 4:04 pm

We have an old indirect C/heating system, If we have a nice tank of hot water a problem arises when we turn on the C/heating as it results in the hot water tank going rapidly cooler altho eventually slowly warming up again
I have looked at the tank in the loft & notice that the hot water flow connection into the tank also has the flow from the heating circuit connected to the same fitting just above so they share the expansion pipe presumably, the c/heating continuation pipe is connected 6" above. Surely this means that putting on the heating pump will pull out the hot water as it passes thru?
