FRANCE

The largest country in Europe, France has long been a popular destination for holidaymaker's from the UK and is just 26 miles from mainland Britain at it’s closest point.

Bordered in the North by the English Channel, the Mediterranean in the South and the Atlantic Ocean to the west, France has some 2,900km (1,800 miles) of coastline.
France also shares land borders with Belgium and Luxembourg to the North East, Germany, Switzerland and Italy to the East, and Spain and Andorra to the South West.Eiffel Tower

With a total area of approx 339,055 sq miles (545,630 sq km), the scenery is varied, flat plains and gently rolling hills of Normandy and the Atlantic coast to the West, the majestic Alps with the beautiful river valleys of the Loire, Dordogne and the Rhone to the East and the Pyrenees in the South West.

France has dozens of major tourist attractions: Cannes on the French Riviera, and home to the world famous film festival; the castles and chateaus of the Loire Valley; Mont Saint Michel in Brittany; Disneyland Paris, home to Mickey Mouse and his friends and of course the winter sport resorts of the Alps.

Paris is the most visited capital city in Europe, and with such sights at the Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, the Louvre to name but a few, it is easy to understand why.

Provence and Cote d’Azur in the south combine both sun and snow. The beaches of Cannes, Nice and Antibes are just 50 km's from the Alps. Hiking, mountain biking and climbing are all available to those who prefer a change to lounging on the beach watching the world go by. At nearby Biarritz you can indulge in water sports such as diving, snorkeling sailing and even surfing in warm Mediterranean waters.

Golf can be played on courses in the Loire Valley, Burgundy and Pas de Calais. Not hugely popular with the French the courses are generally un crowded making golfing holidays in France a relaxing experience.

French cuisine is recognized as one of the best and most varied in the world. Visitors to France can sample many regional variations of dishes and of course the wines to accompany them!
