Ireland is beautiful for cycling, the central plain, surrounded by mountains and hills is criss-crossed with cycle paths. When cycling along the south and west coasts be prepared for variable terrain, lots of hills and often into the wind. There are plenty of campgrounds along the way for long distance cyclists. A good touring bike with solid tyres is a must as road conditions are not always excellent.
Like golf? Then you’re likely to know all about golfing in Ireland. The Emerald Isle offers more golf than any country of comparable size in the world! The claim to have some of the most beautiful courses in the world is no empty boast – lake or rivers, mountains or seascapes – the variety is amazing. It is even possible to play the same courses that helped shape champions, as well as courses that gave golf's international superstars some of their finest moments.
For those who prefer their holiday in or around water, Ireland offers much more than you might think! From scuba diving to surfing, there are plenty of places along the Atlantic coastline for the beginner and more experienced to take to the water. The Irish National Surfing Championships are held each year in Donegal. It is possible to water-ski along the River Shannon, or why not shoot the rapids along the River Liffey in a canoe. The Liffey Descent, usually held in September each year attracts competitors from across the world and is a wonderful occasion for spectators and competitors alike.
Whether your interest is in horses, golf, fishing or even splashing about in the sea, Ireland has the perfect locations, not to mention some of the most beautiful natural backdrops in the world.
