Seasonal Weather Information for Northern Cyprus
One of the main benefits of holidaying in Northern Cyprus is the weather! Blessed with an average of over 300 hundred days sunshine a year, the tourist season is not limited to the main summer months.
Spring
The short spring lasts from around mid-February to mid-May. With the occasional, sometimes heavy rain, an umbrella and light coat would not go amiss. There are plenty of warm and sunny days even as early as the beginning of February. During the day light to medium weight clothes are usually sufficient, although the evenings can be chilly so pack a jumper or two.
Summer
Summer last from mid-May to mid-October and is characterised by cloudless skies and hot temperatures. During the hottest months of July and August the temperature can reach as high as 40 C. Light summer clothing is recommended, and if you are prone to sun burn, something with long sleeves is essential, as are sunglasses and a hat. Avoid sun bathing during the hottest past of the day, and make sure you use plenty of sun cream. Keep a bottle of water with you to avoid dehydration. A light jacket, cardigan or shawl might be needed for the cooler evenings in May and October.
Autumn
Autumn lasts from mid-October to mid-December. Punctuated by occasional rain as the days get noticeably cooler, there are still warm and sunny days to enjoy, especially in a sheltered spot. The evenings are cooler, so be prepared and pack a warm jumper in your case.
Winter
Winter lasts from mid-December to mid-February and can be fairly wet and humid at times. During the coldest months it is not unknown for there to be frosts and even an occasional snow fall on the FiveFinger mountain ranges. An umbrella is a must, although there are still days of beautiful sunshine, winter weight clothing is probably best, perhaps with layers you can remove rather than one heavy woolly!
