I have found that Continental spark-plug leads suffer from "damp-start" problems.
The cheap cure is to paint Waxoyl onto the joints at the end-fittings of the leads: a spray with WD40 is temporary as it dries, leaving a sticky residue.
Next, renew the distributor cap and rotor-arm.
If still unreliable, the earth-strap from the bodywork to the engine/gearbox, could well have white furry corrosion-products needing scrubbing off with a wire brush, between the braided ends, and the body/engine. Apply vaseline under the end-fittings will delay the return of corrosion-products.
New H.T. leads and platinum-tipped spark-plugs, would be my next task. |
