Hello all out there...
I do most of my own works and been fine, I have just changed the CV boot (emergency split then glue one) on my Fiesta (mk 4 )but seems to be leaking a bit, I feel I have not got the fastenings at each end tight enough.
Is there any secret to getting it done so you know they are tight enough but not too tight?
I would like to know as I intend to do the job again this weekend by using the proper CV boot (not split or stretch ones).
It is the nearside outside boot, can I pull out the halfshaft from the CV without taking the wheel apart? and then slide the boot on and then reassemble ? Or do I have to remove the wheel, brakes, disk, hub, CV etc ?
Thanks

Hi
Are you using the zip ties they usually supply? If so I usually dispose of these and use jubilee clips as they provide much better grippage.
I have found the best way of completing this job is to remove the wheel, hub etc.... and also the special CV boot tool (this looks like a large ice cream cone. You can then use washing up liquid to stretch the boot over the cv joint)
Hope this info helps!!!!!!
