Summary: A review of the qualities and ease of use of an exakt planer sander

Exakt power sander in action

The build quality of this Exakt Power plane and sander combined is exceptional. The (green) plastic body housing fits neatly onto the metal motor housing with precision leaving no jagged edges or overhanging lips to catch fingers on as you are planing and sanding.

The handle is comfortable and shaped so that you feel in control of the machine at all times although it's considerable weight (necessitated because of the powerful motor) means full concentration is required at all times!

The power plane/sander is stable in use with a footprint wide enough to overlap planing or sanding strokes easily to avoid any "tramlines" in your work.

The cutting/planing/sanding depths are easily set in tiny increments allowing full control over your work and lead to a very smooth finish.

Removal of only two screws is needed to change from planing to sanding and the tool supplied for this make the job very simple indeed.

As with most sanders and planers, regular checking of the gap between the blades and discs and the base plate is required to keep them free from debris and the dust extraction bag need to be firmly affixed for the full benefit of this attachment to be realised.

A generous carry case allows full portability of the tool and its spares, blades and sanding discs.

All in all, as professional tradesmen we would have no problem adding this tool to our workshop.
