A formal room or area used to serve meals and entertain visitors.
Diorama
A three-dimensional scene constructed to scale, usually with a painted background.
Direct leveling
The determination of the difference in elevation of two or more points using a surveyor's level and a graduated rod.
Direct luminaire
A luminaire that directs 90% to 100% of its light downward.
Direct nailing

The labor, material, subcontractor, and heavy equipment costs directly incorporated into the construction of physical improvements.

A term applied to an electrical circuit in which the current flows in one direction only.

A system in which the driver and the driven element (motor and fan) are positively connected in line to operate at the same speed.

All cost items that are directly incurred by or chargeable to a project, assignment, or task.
Direct heating
The heating of a space by means of exposed heated surfaces or a heat source such as a stove, a radiator, or fire.
Direct lighting
A lighting system, usually emitting light in a downward direction, that distributes 90% to 100% of its light in the direction of the surface to be lit.
Direct personnel expense
Salaries and wages, including fringe benefits, of all principals and employees attributable to a particular project or task.
Direct return system
A heating or cooling system in which the heating or cooling fluid is returned from the heat exchanger to the boiler or evaporator by the shortest, most direct route.
