The Draineasy Radiator Draining Kit is a simple to use re-useable, multi-purpose tool for completely draining the water from a radiator before carrying out any work such as decorating or replacing the radiator. It's quick and effective and can be used over and over again. (See below for instructions)

There is one universal application for 8mm, 10mm, 15mm & 22mm Pipework and step by step instruction on usage are included along with safety guidelines to ensure you are able to remove your radiators without causing any damage to surounding decor, carpets or flooring.

The DrainEasy Radiator Draining Kit Contains:

  • 1 x Universal application Radiator Draining Tray plus
  • 4x Water Diverting Collars for 8mm, 10mm, 15mm & 22mm pipework.
  • Re-useable Sealing Strips and Water Resistant Barrier Gel (sufficient for 6-8 applications).

How to use the DrainEasy Radiator Draining Kit:

1.Identify both the FEED and RETURN VALVES on the radiator you wish to drain (one on each side at the bottom of the radiator) and ensure that they are fully turned off.

Slacken the BLEED SCREW (situated at the top of the radiator) to release residual pressure then re-tighten.

2. Position the draining tray towards either the feed or return pipe. As radiators are often positioned at varying levels, a support beneath may be required.

3. Select the correct size of Diverting collar - 8mm, 10mm or 15mm. Tear off the end of the Sealing Compound gel and apply a bead of gel around the circular hole in Diverting Collar.

Adding Sealant

4. Clip Diverting Collar around pipe and slide a length of sealing strip (rounded edge uppermost) along the slit at rear of collar up to the pipe.

This seals the back of the collar.

Instruction 5

5. Twist Diverting Collar through 90' positioning the Sealing Strip at rear.

Using your finger smear the bead of gel against the pipe to help achieve a water resistant seal.

Instruction 6

6. Once the collar and tray are correctly in position and the surrounding area is protected, using the correct size of spanner, open the union - SLOWLY! Water will now flow from the union and into the draining tray. Should the flow of water slow during this process, do not undo the union further, but carefully open the BLEED SCREW to aid the flow of water.

Instruction 7

IMPORTANT: do not undo the union or remove bleed screw totally until the radiator is fully drained.

7. As radiator sizes vary, so does the volume of water contained in the radiator. To ensure that the Radiator Draining Tray does not become too full before the radiator is fully drained, the union may be re-tightened during the draining process to facilitate the emptying of the tray.

You may find it useful to have a bucket on hand for this purpose.

8. The directions contained in points 1-7 should be repeated until the radiator is fully drained and ready for removal.

After use, clean and store the RADIATOR DRAINING KIT for further use.

We deliver throughout the UK and standard delivery times are 2-5 working days. We try to exceed this delivery time wherever we can. We also offer a express delivery service when available giving a next working day service if ordered before 1 pm (10 am for Eco Solutions products). Confirmation of delivery will be made on receipt of the order.

We will always try to exceed our stated delivery times where possible or dispatch orders for delivery on the next working day after our cut-off whenever possible.

Our returns policy allows you to return any item if it is not what you require within 14 days of receipt. This is as long as it has not been used and is returned in its original undamaged packaging.

The DIY Doctor store is open and available for delivery orders.

Our range of products is reduced to focus on products that are essential, or safe to pick and dispatch.

Delivery times will be extended by up to 5-7 days as we deal with orders while following government distancing guidelines.

Bank Holidays

We do experience an increase in orders over Bank holidays which can lead to delays in processing orders. We will endeavour to dispatch all orders as quickly as possible. If there are any potential delays we will contact you directly to inform you.

Free Delivery:

Where products have been quoted as having free delivery or delivery included, this will not apply for Northern Ireland and the Highlands and Islands due to the excess delivery charges incurred reaching these locations. Delivery costs can be seen by entering your postcode into the basket.

Why do we charge delivery?

A great many of our customers purchase multiple products, so if we build the delivery charges into each item we will in effect be charging delivery on every product in their basket. We think it is fairer to charge a single delivery cost for the contents of the whole basket once. Some products do have delivery included; this is typically because they are dispatched from another location, generally direct from the manufacturer, as there are restrictions to how they can be delivered due to their size, or if they are liquids, for example.
