A curious comment on DIY has been made in the Daily Mirror yesterday by columnist Brian Reade.
He has come up with a theory that DIY should be made illegal. He thinks that if it were made illegal and all the DIY stores were forced to close, then all the tradespeople would have all the work they could want. He goes on to say that the result would be a reduction of hospital admissions, and apprenticeships would rise in popularity again. Brian also adds that men ‘would be able to do what they did when men were men. Put their feet up and pay professionals to do the work, without feeling any guilt about their own incompetence or sloth.’ But maybe this comment is purely personal!
