boiler1This may not be as daft as it sounds – but as most people are likely to have  switched off their central heating for the summer months, now is probably the best time to do any maintenance.

It’s not that long ago that the majority of homes in the UK didn’t have any kind of central heating, although forms of central heating have been around since  Roman times.

Central heating really became widespread in the 1970’s fired by affordable gas boilers. A survey of households in 2004 revealed that approx 7% of homes were without central heating – a figure that is likely to have fallen further.

So, as you contemplate the sunshine outside, think ahead and get your system serviced or updated in good time for ‘central heating switch on day’ in the Autumn.
