Some of the big names in DIY retail have got together to form the DIY and Building Trade Loss Prevention Forum to try to reduce theft from their stores as the price of scrap metal rises.

Homebase, Travis Perkins (who own Wickes), B&Q and SELCO have formed the forum to share information and best practice as thieves are targeting shops and yards. Staff are now aware that thieves try hiding copper tubing inside plastic pipes to avoid detection as the price of copper is expected to reach £7000 a ton by the end of the year.
