Residents living in deprived areas of the country are still suffering due to government cuts in regeneration programme. There are areas in the midlands and the north such as the one in Anfield discussed by Sky News in the film, which have streets of houses that had been earmarked for demolition and regeneration and therefore lots of houses have been boarded up. But amongst these abandoned properties there are people still living there, often owner-occupiers, who have invested time and money in their own properties but now feel there is no future for them.
A report by the House of Commons Communities and Local Government Committee, which is a cross-part committee, has highlighted the problem and has called for urgent action from the Government to help those affected.
