10amp 2 pin connector on a 3amp hedge trimmer

Post by Mac_Wood » Tue Aug 03, 2021 10:52 am

Hi all,

I have a hedge trimmer which has suffered a few cable cuts. In the past I've reconnected the cables using a chocbox weatherproofed with insulating tape. I decided to remove the affected cable and re-join using a 10 amp 2 pin connector. Perhaps it is my electrical abilities that have let me down, as the trimmer won't start up, or perhaps the 2 pin connector was a non-starter, and I therefore need to replace the whole length of cable and discard the connector. Please advise me as to the best course of action. Thanks

Hi mac_wood.
Assuming the original cable was 2 core there’s not really much that can be wrong. Check your connections and the continuity of all cables.
