1930s Close Board Feather Edge Boarding

Post by Joey69 » Wed Oct 09, 2019 10:46 am

Hi, have a 1930s house that needs a new roof. Had a few quotes which are equal to a years salary for me! My question is....does the feather edge boarding "have" to come off and then membraned and battened as per new build or as one roofer has stated it is ok to batten out over the existing close boards? If this is acceptable practice then it could save me around £4k off the price of membrane and battens. Anyone have any experience of this I will be truly grateful for some advice. Thank you.
