by chris_on_tour2002 » Fri Jan 25, 2008 11:20 am

does anybody know where i can find a 3-gang, 2-way lightswitch in polished chrome to fit a DOUBLE backbox? i can only find singles, trawled the net, can anybody confirm if they exist?

i've found doubles with toggle switches and dimmers but none with rocker switches. help!

I have a 3gang brass switch with double box so I assume chrome is available

Unfortunately I dont know make and unable to remove it due to the decor.

An alternative is use grid format this would be double size for 3 gang
I think mk do a grid chrome front, but the switches would proberly just be silver colour.

You do know it is essential you have earth present at the box to fit these .

hi 333rocky333,

ive seen the brass ones, its odd that you seem to be able to get them in brass but not in chrome - ive looked everywhere.

looked at the mk grid system as well but this alas wont work. whilst the frames fit into a standard double backbox its not actually a standard double that im trying to fit to. its a 'double single' if that makes sense - ie a box to fit two singles next to eachother so its a bit longer than a standard double. sure that there is a technical name for it but i dont know what it is.

and i am aware of the earth requirement - i have an earth present at the box so should be able to fit any option once ive found it!

just have to keep looking i suppose...

You have a dual box

The mk grid as you say wont fit, the fixing centres are different.

But you will find the three gang switch (when found) also wont fit
As that will have the same fixing centres as the grid.
So how did you plan to fit that.

Do you know make of the brass one.
Most doubles now seem to start at 4 gang
