adding 2 skts and spotlights

Post by robthejoiner » Wed Dec 02, 2009 8:43 pm

Hi everyone i need some advise, i have build a fitted wardrobe in bedroom and want 2 double skts & 2 spotlights inside wardrobe, there is already 1 double skt there, so can i change this double skt too a fcu to then feed 2 new double skts & 1 more fcu (useing 2.5mm cable) then from the second fcu run 1 or 1.5mm cable to lightswitch then to spotlights.

I hope someone can make sense of this post and give me some advise thanks in advance

Hi Rob,
it depends upon whether the existing double socket is already a spur or if it's on a ring circuit direct.
Assuming it is on a ring (with 2 cables in it as a clue) then you can leave it and spur from it to a FCU and then on to as many outlets as you want, and as you say also to a second SW-FCU as your light switch with a 3 A fuse, no problem with overload as max for whole lot will be the 13A fuse at start,
