adding to ring main

hello, when your adding extra sockets to a ring do you have to, add junction boxes or can you add them directly into the ring?.. thnx

Hi, you can add extra sockets either by spuring direct from an existing socket, or by using a 30A JB to 'tee' off a cable run , or put them in the main ring by cutting it , using 2 JB's and inserting a length of cable from one JB through all extra sockets & back to second JB.
What is Not allowed is to 'tee' off the ring to skts & back to a second 'teed' JB forming a double loop or figure 8 shape, this is an absolute No-No.
I'm sure there is a drawing in 'projects' section also,
