We need to replace our boiler and relocate from the upstairs bedroom to the kitchen. We had the electricians leave a point for the boiler to be built in to a 600mm wall cupboard but the plumber we got round to quote is now saying that it can't be done there and a boiler won't fit into a wall cupboard. Added to this his initial quote has increased by £900 since the original quote 6 months ago.
Can anyone advise which boiler would be the best to go for, and a rough idea of how much we are looking at for the job. We have had a range of quotes already from £1900-£3500!?
Are there any regulations we need to worry about too as a couple have said that the flu can be located near the kitchen window.
You're better off choosing a boiler then checking the installation instructions, generally the flue must be at least 300mm from an opening window.
Impossible to price without seeing the job, get 3 or 4 quotes but don't always go for cheapest. Ask around friends and family for installer recommendations.
The boiler choice depends on what you want to pay, I'd recommend Baxi/Potterton as they're reasonably priced and reasonable for spares. Worcester are expensive and expensive for spares, but some argue they don't breakdown as often???
