Advice on tiling job carried out in bathroon renovation

Postby dolphingod » Wed Mar 23, 2016 10:32 pm

Hi All

I am in the middle of a new bathroom installation and I wanted some thoughts on the quality of the tiling. I think there are a number of problems, including:

- grouting colour not uniform throughout
- tiles not flush
- tiles not cut straight along the bath
- poor tile trimming in the corner

and a number of other problems...

Looking at these pics am I just being too fussy? I have spent a lot of money on this, and the least I expect is flush tiles rather than the excuses the walls are not straight and the tiles are cheap etc etc

A sense check would be much appreciated!

Simply Build It

No that's not acceptable, that's a DIY job certainly not professional,
tell them it's not to the standard you expect and the price doesn't match the work unless you had a cheap quote,,
I had my shower retiled by a professional but told him that I wasn't happy and explained to him tiling a shower in a refurbished bathroom where the original tiles were removed and the walls needed patching, the walls weren't quite plumb was a different than tiling in a new build and he should have told me that he didn't have this experience,

as for the grout,I personally like a few millimetres gap between the tiles
