Advice on Tracing Studs In Internal Wall

Post by Julie Roberts » Wed Jun 21, 2017 2:04 pm

Hello,

I am getting different readings when trying to locate the studs in the wall. It is an internal wall which separates my living room and bedroom.

I have found that whenever I drill, I find myself poking a hole through to the other side into the next room.

I have bought 2 different stud finders and I feel like I am losing the plot.

When drilling pilot holes to test if there is a stud there or not, what is the difference I should feel between drilling into a stud and drilling into plasterboard?

I feel the tension all the way through til I drill through into the other room.

I have drilled in different places and found that they all 'feel' the same.

Can this be a wall without any studs?

Please excuse my lack of knowledge, any help will be highly appreciated as I feel like I'm losing the plot.
