Air going round and round

by btgriff » Wed Feb 27, 2008 8:04 pm

Hi,

I've had a radiator off for decorating and now I'm stuck with a bit of air in my system that I can't seem to clear. It doesn't seem to want to collect in a radiator, whenever I bleed them I get water coming out. Yet I can hear the air gurgling round, normally at a couple of radiators.

The system is sealed with a ferroli modena combi boiler located in the upstairs airing cupboard. All the radiators have TRVs fitted except the bathroom one.

Any advice appreciated.

Is the auto-airvent on the boiler open ? have you vented the pump ? If yes and all the radiators heat, leave it and it will find it's way out eventually.

Are you sure it's air, could it not just be the radiator valves rattling abit ?

I'll have to check the vent on the boiler. I have found that after the heating has been on for a few hours that some air does collect in one radiator so I guess it will come out eventually.

Are the auto air vents reliable? I have read they can be a bit problematic.
