Alternative to tiles, painting old tiles, refresh grouting

by Fiona_M » Mon Nov 03, 2008 9:35 am

I need to do something about my bathroom! There are old, yellow, textured tiles around most of the bathroom. They don't go up nearly high enough to cover the area where the shower is, so the wallpaper is getting wet through. The grouting is dark and nasty.

At the moment I can't afford a whole new bathroom so some quick refreshers would be welcome.

Is there an alternative to tiling to extend the waterproof area at the shower?

Can you paint tiles, if so, what with and does it create a decent effect?

Finally, what's the simplest, easiest way to refresh the grouting?

Bit of a novice with bathroom stuff so all tips welcome! Many thanks
