Apex Roof on 14x8 workshop

Post by fishtycuffs » Sun Mar 15, 2009 11:31 pm

Hi all,

Can anyone help please. I'm building a workshop 14ft x 8ft, 2x2 framing and 4x2 roof joists. I have draughted up some plans and am vertually ready to go however I'm in a bit of a pickle on what to do with the apex roof. I'm calling on the experts for some advice as at the moment my plan is to make one section up on the floor and duplicate from that kinda making it up as I go. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is a method to follow when building the apex roof. I know how it looks and how it should sit, but working the angles and making sure I get it right first time is a must as I don't want to waste timber on trial and error.

Any help would be great and will I'll be very thankful for it.

Cheers

fishtycuffs,
Start by forming one mini-trussed rafter use this as a template for all the others and also to check the uniformity of the outer walls
end
