Applying Tar Felt - Hints and Tips

by stuartgmilton » Wed Oct 26, 2011 1:29 pm

Hey guys,

I'm going to be applying tar felt to a kennel roof soon, and wondered if any of you had some good hints and tips - I really don't want to bu99er it up!

There are going to be 2 overlaps - what distance of overlap should I have? Should I paint under the overlap with tar paint aswell?

What is the best way to get neat corners/edges?

Many thanks,
Stuart

stuartgmilton,
what distance of overlap should I have - 100mm should be adequate
Should I paint under the overlap with tar paint - yes
What is the best way to get neat corners/edges - use a sharp bladed knife and a blowtorch to soften the felt.
end
