Artex ceiling - good or bad

Post by weebubbles » Mon Jul 16, 2007 8:45 pm

Hi, I recently had to get half of my living room ceiling replaced, and then the builders skimmed over the whole ceiling (the old part of the ceiling was still artexed). Should I get my ceiling re-artexed. Please help as I dont know what to do and need advice

Hi,
Just remember that if you get your ceiling artexed it is a long term decision,as it has only two ways of disappearing, plaster over or,sand it of.
I would reccomend against doing this as there are many blown vinyl and Super Glypta papers on the market today which can have just the same effect if not better ,and can be stripped of if you get sick of looking at it.

Did you like the artex, does the room look odd without it, has the rest of the house got it. Really it is a personal choice.

You can steam artex off with a wallpaper stripper.
