Auto shut-off Taps Shutting off Completely - Can you Disable the Auto Shut-off?

Post by Slotter » Wed Feb 04, 2015 1:19 am

Hi, I'm new on the forum here and have particular issues with a number of taps I've installed throughout the house. Three sets of taps all have issues, two cold taps and one hot, the hot on the bath / shower head mixer, cold on the kitchen mixer, and cold on a handbasin.

Over a period of weeks the auto-shut off gradually closes off the taps to the point that they stop working, have to be isolated and stripped down to "rewind" the washer spindle back in, and then reassembled to work and gradually wind down again.

Having the auto-shut off on basin taps seems sensible enough - but on a mixer tap with a shower head? Just get the temperature right and then the auto-shut off kicks in and we get scalded, or the cold starts pulsating.

My question is: is there any way to disable the auto-shut off so that the flow is maintained, or can the tap innards be replaced with units that don't turn off?

Thanks
