Barbed wire on fencing

I know it is against the law to put up barbed wire on fencing, but is there any legal way to prevent people trespassing/climbing your fence?
Any ideas, please help.

APPLY ANTI VANDAL/INTRUDER/CLIMB PAINT TO TOP EDGE OF FENCE.

GOOGLE TE SAME TERMS FOR LOTS OF INFO.

Can you not use barbed wire so long as you put signs up?

YOU CAN GROW SHRUBS/HEDGING THAT WILL GIVE THE SAME EFFECT AS BARBED WIRE BUT MAY REQUIRE A PERIOD OF TIME TO ESTABLISH. HAWTHORN OR ROSE ETC. ETC.
