Battens underneath exterior oak cladding

Postby JohnnyD-C » Fri Feb 26, 2021 1:18 pm

I have a building control signed-off barn conversion with an exterior surface mostly of oak cladding on battens over the building membrane and the rest of the usual wall construction inside the building regs spec blue battens.
On one small wall area some horizontal battens have been put across as well as the usual verticals, is this a problem? The area around the battens inside the oak cladding remains completely dry and has done for two winters.

Hi johnnyd_c
The most likely reason for this is so the wall is flat for the cladding, it is unlikely that there will be any issues.

Thanks S
This is exactly what I thought but have others querying it.
