I have a Baxi Solo HE gravity fed boiler with hot water tank upstairs. All working fine until last Saturday when the heating stopped but boiler still working when hot water switch was on. Basically the boiler works ok when control unit upstairs has hot water switched on, the heating will work fine as long as hot water switch is on, but when hot water switch is off or times out, then pump stops and boiler turns off and no separate heating will work ? Any ideas ? Thank you. Paul

First thing I would look at is the motorised valve/s. The way most work is programmer tells thermostat and then thermostat tells motorised valve/s which in turn tells boiler to turn on, if the motorised valve sticks, or a micro switch fails then boiler will not fire up.

If a three port valve, some times latching bleed lever to bleed position will get central heating working as a temporary measure.
