Best Way to Repair Damaged Wall With Blown Brick Faces

by amatureman » Mon Nov 12, 2018 4:34 pm

Hello,

I have this wall that is about 100 years old, lime mortar, soft brick.

The previous owners concrete rendered over the whole thing causing massive damp problems. (You can see the salts coming through)

I got most the render off, the wall is drying out but as you can see from the pictures the bricks are badly damaged.

Do I need to have this wall rebuilt or will a lime plaster coat be sufficient and add any strength to the damaged bricks?

If there's is any other covering that might add sufficient strength that's breathable please let me know.

Thank in advance guys!
