Big Heavy wallhung bathroom basin

Post by Nonplumber » Wed Aug 26, 2009 6:46 pm

Got one of these. 1000mm wide, designed to be wall hung and has a wallhung cupboard underneath. What is the best way to fix it to wall? The wall is external wall (phew...) normal brick/block cavity construction finished with plasterboard. Do I just use normal basin bolts or something stronger - if so what? It looks lovely, so my wife informs me when she had it delivered form the shop - last time I let her have a day off to go shopping.........Oh and the wall is now tiled...

Nonplumber,
The basin should have been supplied with special fischer fixings - go back to the supplier to get these.

For various reasons it will be easier for me to get hold of these directly.
What size of Fischer bolts? Are these ok for block walls?
This is a very heavy Villeroy & Bosch basin. It tried emailing V&B for advise but their reply was useless. Everywhere I look on the web suggests using these fischer bolts but the sites suggesting this usually show something like a cloakroom basin or "normal" size bathroom sink.

Nonplumber,
The fischer bolts are about 10mm and will fix into most masonry materials.
