Bird filler combs for pantiles

Post by DorsetBob » Wed Oct 13, 2021 11:43 am

Does anyone have any alternative options to bird filler combs on a pantile roof or how to improve them - making them more resistant to movement by birds or pests - once they are in?. Whilst a number are good and tight some simply dont sit well enough within the tile making it simple to move the fingers despite all being fixed in correctly. Many thanks. NB a solid barrier - as used when the property was constructed-isnt possible for the usual drainage/ventilation reasons.

Hi dorsetbob
There is no easy solution to this, a mortared fill on top of slates is the best solution but does mean a roof strip. You could get some thin aluminium strip, cut the 1/3 rounds to suit your roof profile and fix these in place.
