boiler bangs!

by greg555 » Mon Apr 21, 2008 10:45 pm

Hi,

A quick question....

is it common when your central heating is on to get occasional bangs or clunk noises? As if someone upstairs banged or jumped.

Any replies would be VV much appretiated !

No it's not normal - but not normally anything to worry about.

Could be limescale in the boiler or other faults. For example the Potterton Puma, DHW flow switch sometimes sticks this causes the boiler to bang.

What's the make and model of the boiler ?

Thanks for the reply!!

Its a New (less than 2 yr old boiler) Vokeria minute.

I have left anther post about the external bypass on my heating system Do you think that could be connected?

I live in Scotland also so I dont think it will be limescale?

One more point I dont know if I explained the noise as well as i could have? Its like a dull
Dumph. Im not entirely sure it comes from the boiler or maybe heating system its self (ie the pipes)?

Thanks again!
Greg.

Check the pressure guage. If it has dropped below 1 BAR you may have a leak in your system or the system may simply need topped up as they occasionally do.
