Boiler using a LOT of gas

Post by TMeister » Wed Feb 17, 2010 4:58 pm

I have just moved into a new house and had my first gas bill. I nearly fell over. I am using about 26 units of gas a day. I have turned the boiler off and the dials on the meter are stationary. Once I turn the bolier on, the numbers fly around.

We only have the heating on whilst we are in during the day (about 5 or six hours) and the hot water heats for an hour per day.

I have an Ariston 28 RFFI boiler. This boiler is not a combi boiler, but it does heat the water in our tank (through a coil?).

Can anyone think of what the problem might be? Does this sound terminal or can it be as simple as 'turning down' the gas?

You need an RGI to check the appliance, and gas-rate the boiler.

Get an RGI to carry out an annual gas service.
