bonding out a ceiling????

by rambo77 » Fri Oct 02, 2009 4:10 pm

can i use bonding as an undercoat to plaster an uneven concrete ceiling which has been artexed and then skim over the bonding

i know 2 coats of multi finish will do the job but the artex has been wallpapered which i have striped off but its hard to get every tiny piece of paper off and with the ceiling being uneven as it is i thought i might try bonding then skim

any ideas boarding not really an option

cheers

Fill it out with skim coats mate.
You could get a scraper to remove any areas of the artex that are creating an uneven surface, this can be done by scaping the artex first to remove high peaks, then soften with water or steam then scrap again to create a more even surface.
But be careful as some artex did contain asbestos this was popular in the 1970s and should not be disturb or it should be removed by a licensed contractor.
