Building Regulations for Single Skin Porch on Front of House

by Gbenn » Wed Nov 08, 2017 4:55 pm

Hi All

A few months ago I had a porch built on the front of our house and our original front door removed. I was asked by the buulder whether we wanted single or double skin. I asked him for his advice, he said for maximum internal size go for single. Being totally naive and wanting more space in the porch went for single. I have done a bit of research into insulation as it is getting a bit chilly in there now. Only to read alot about porches without an exterior grade door between need to comply with building regs, which would required double skin. Is this correct?

Yes B Regs required for porch where the front door has been removed. Essentially this is now an extension and would have to meet B Regs.
