Buying and Fitting a Wireless Thermostat Myself?

by metalhammer » Wed Jan 31, 2018 3:53 pm

Hi everyone

Hope someone can offer me some advice. I live in a rented flat and am thinking of getting a wireless thermostat installed. Is this something I could do myself and...

a) without requiring the need of heating/fitting engineer & associated install costs?
b) without needing to get my landlord involved?

We have a relatively new Vaillant combi boiler installed and recently the landlord coughed up to replace all of the radiators with new Drayton TRV's. I've seen wireless thermostats rangin from £30 up to and in excess of £200 (for smart devices). I'd like to fit it myself if possible and can take it with me when our tenancy expires.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and if you have any recommendations of units to buy that'd be great!
