Cancelled Contract for Window Installation on Grade 2 Listed Property

by ouranne » Fri Jan 19, 2018 7:45 pm

Brain picking time....
We got a quote for our grade 2 listed building last September, planning approved and told would be installed 8th jan. No one came, I made several phone calls to eventually be told that bad weather had caused delays.
Changed to Friday 12th.
They called Thursday evening to cancel and said it would start Monday.
Curtains and tracks down AGAIN .
Monday no one arrived, I called and was sent a text with picture of a fitter with a broken arm.
I gave them until Thursday to complete or leave.
Got text saying scaffold would go up Wednesday and 2 teams of fitters would work until finished Thursday.
The fitters arrived, with the windows, 9 out of 11 were wrong size.
The boss wanted them to make up 70 mm each side of the of the bay.
This is a guest house that we own which has now been closed for two weeks, to accommodate these windows.
We told them to go and take the windows with them.
The director has told us to expect a solicitors letter. Why? They don't fit . Advice please
