hi there as ive now seen there are two black wires two red one green so what do i join the colours to as on the light fitting i joined two reds together to a brown green to green/yellow and two blacks to the blue it came on but would not turn off the red wires each have a black wire please help

From what you say I would think your end of line. So green/yellow all go together to earth. The reds also go together but do not connect to the light its self, One black with be neutral and go to (blue) on lamp and other black will be line and should have red sleeve and goes to Line (brown) on lamp. This assumes it has all followed normal wiring. There is more on this in projects section.
