I want to hang a two-person bed from the ceiling rafters (see image). I think one rafter should be able to support this weight, but just to be safe, I'd like to distribute the weight over two rafters. I don't want to use rope because I assume pulling the rafters toward each other would be bad. My plan is to put a rod of some sort between the two and hang the bed from the middle of the rod. Better suggestions? And if not, what material rod do you recommend?
