Hi, I have a Potterton Statesman oil fired boiler, which has worked fine for many years and has recently started to behave strangely. Basically once the system has warmed up (ie both water and radiators have run for a while and the boiler has stopped firing). The boiler will fire up run for maybe only 5-10 seconds and the switch off. There is a room thermostat and a water cylinder stat with a Danfoss valve on each circuit. The photocell detector has been changed and made no difference, the oil supply is good and constant. So something either water or radiators is calling for heat, the boiler fires and before any "heat" can be delivered the boiler switches off. It doesn't make any difference what the boiler temperature control is set at. Anyone got any ideas, please?
Hi p2ajb, Assuming you have replaced like for like with the photocell and it is orientated correctly your next move is to replace the oil pump solenoid. Regards S
