ceramic tiles on decking

Post by swanmark » Thu May 08, 2008 12:02 pm

Hi, I am in need of some advice, I built a decking area about 4 to 5 years ago, its still very sound, but now like most women my wife has decided she no longer likes the look of it, so I suggested instead of taking it down why not cover the base with ceramic floor tiles, can this be done ?, will it cause dry rot and which is the best and obviously cheapest way to achieve this, thanks

I think you're biggest problem would be the flex in the decking boards. This would cause the tiles to come loose after a while.

and the voids in between may not offer sufficient support and the tiles could break.
