Chests of Drawers - Fixing stuck draws

Postby tesh » Mon Feb 27, 2012 8:54 pm

Hi Forum Members,

I have a problem with a chest of drawers. Basically the draws do not sit properly on the plastic runners and they get stuck.

How do fix this problem with out spending a fortune? I would replace with new runners however if you take a look at the pictures the current runners are plastic and the draws have grooves in them where they should sit on the runners!

Any tips useful.

Thank you.

Tesh

Just in case in one is interested I found a company that have the correct size runners and they are made of metal. I will fit these runners and stain the chest and drawers so that I can either use them in my house or sell them and get a much better price.

Applying a bit of wax to the top of the runners might be worth a try first, the drawer that is way off level looks to be not seated on the runner correctly. Are the runners still fixed firmly to the unit?

Hi

Thank you for your post. The plastic runners are still attached but the drawers dont stay on properly.

What sort of wax do you recommend?

Hi,
Thank you for your post, basically I removed the plastic runners and replaced them with grove runners. I used a leveler to level the runners.

Cheers

Hi there,

Just moved into a rented house and have these exact same drawers! Unfortunately with the same problem too. Could you please tell me where you purchased the replacement runners from and how to fix the problem?

Thank you!
