Circular (round) tubular mortice latch - can only find square or oblong barrel

by ajd193 » Fri Dec 12, 2014 8:49 pm

Hi,

I've taken a couple of latches out of our doors as the internal casing of the spindle has gone out of shape over time (tried a new spindle) and the catch does not always turn.

However, the drill hole in the door is a circle (std 2.5" length), whereas all the latches I can find have a square or oblong barrel.

Can you get latches with cylindrical arrels anywhere? If not, would a square one (at correct measuring) hold?

Cheers,
Andy

Hi Andy

It's just the way they're made. They still fit the same size hole in the door. The only thing that matters is to get the correct length.
