Clunking and Banging Water Pipes

by chap846 » Sun Feb 24, 2019 6:30 pm

Good evening, I have a problem of clunking / banging water pipes. This can be heard when running the washing machine and the banging occurs when the water supply shuts off. This could just be water hammer. However, I can hear slight water / pipe clunking on several occasions when no appliance or tape is even in use. Bathroom is downstairs and noise appears to be coming from the toilet (area). I have had british gas and Dyno out on several occasions and they came to the conclusion it was poor installation of water pipes not being fixed to floorboards correctly, fair enough. I don’t see why I would hear the banging when no water is being used and the heating isn’t on?
Help is appreciated, thank you

Thanks for the response
Don’t suppose you know what the valve was called specifically?
