Combi boiler

by kentish » Sun Apr 01, 2007 4:05 pm

I've just bought a house with a combi boiler that is about 10 years old. It seems to be v. noisy when the central heating is on. Not knocking or anything, just 'whooshing' and gentle roaring noises. Are new boilers any quieter or is this level of noise normal? Can a shower be installed in a room with a combi boiler? Many thanks for any info.

Your central heating pump is on its last legs.

Get someone out to replace it.

The pumps start at about £30 for a cheap one; a good one from Grundfos is about £65

Labour should be about £40 and should take about ½ hour to install.

Many thanks for the reply and for letting me have an indication of what the cost should be, we're in a new area so don't know the local tradesmen too well so this should be a great help!
